A typical coffee farmer (abahinzib’ikawa) in Rwanda…
- has only 100 coffee trees
- grows coffee as their primary source of income
- transports his/her coffee in a basket on his/her head
- lives in a rural area on a steep hillside
- has between 3-5 children
- also grows bananas, beans and fruit trees
- has little or no education
- comes from generations of coffee farmers
- doesn’t know how the coffee business works
- doesn’t drink coffee and therefore doesn’t know the value of his/her hard work!

Thank you for sharing this information, Anna. It helps me envision from where my coffee comes.
